The St. James Episcopal Pets and People - Blessing of the Animals Service, is held monthly in Taos.

This is an excerpt from a church letter drafted for the February, 2008 service:

We are so excited to have special visitors at our Pet’s and People service February 17.  Goldstar Animals Helping People, Inc. will honor us with a visit from their dogs.  Goldstar is a non-profit corporation licensed in the state of New Mexico. The mission of Goldstar Animals Helping People is to improve the quality of life for the residents of northern New Mexico through a therapeutic program which includes services and activities promoting human/animal interaction.

Handlers take their Delta Society registered dogs to nursing homes, schools, the library, hospice settings, family and children counseling, and court interviews with children and participate in the R.E.A.D. program.
